    I don't think I'm going on vacation this year. I had the opportunity to go to Washington DC last year for free with my mom on a business trip. And to Gulf Shores, AL for free with my parents also. This year, I'm saving money for a wedding. I'm using coupons too. Bought all my reception plates and cups with coupons. So I'm having a wedding with coupons.

    One thing we have done a few years now, is stay home,stop the mail, hide the computer, and plan daily ex-curtions (local zoos, parks, day trips,waterparks,bike rides, etc) but remaining completely disconnected from everyone you know for a week:)!! Very cheap, fun and yet relaxing bc you have no packing and repacking and unpacking to do:). Take lots of pics, have a schedule and no cooking allowed...plan meals out or order ins as you would on vacations:).

    When going on vacation I can always count on the hotel that we are staying at to have coupon books for the attractions at that location. I love looking through the different coupon books to figure out how to 1. Save us money and 2. Still have a great time! And with the money we save we can usually go to another attraction with the family! Happy Couponing Everyone! = )

    We would take our own food instead of eating out. Carry snacks and drinks that we already have at home, for instance jugs of tea or kool-aid or water with plastic cups from home. Also we would stay in the hotels that my husband gets for free because of his job! Look for all the free entertainment or discount tickets for wherever we go. Take snacks and water in a backpack to amusement parks.

    When I go on vacation, I always make sure to stay in a hotel that serves complimentary breakfast. I also pack snacks, drinks, and lunch items that I have bought with my coupons. This way I only eat out once a day while I am on vacation. You would not believe how much money you can save by doing this! :)

    This year because of gas prices we arenot able to go to Daytona Beach to see family. Instead we are going to go to a nearby lake and take our kids camping. Going back to the basics of a family vacation, just enjoying each other and nature.

    While on vacation we take advantage of as many free tours that city offers, also contact the Chamber of Commerce to see if they offer any discounts or coupons to use during your stay.

    We are going on vvacation in just 2 days and I have organized a section of my binder just for things we can use while gone, like the Coke coupon that just can out, the McDonalds Strawberry Lemonade coupons, other resturaunt coupons. I also went out and got some road snacks using coupons. I am checking the grocery stores in the areas of the country to see if I can get deals while there, since we will have a large cooler with us. I'm very excited to take our first vacation while couponing!

    I summer vacation is usually to Virgina to see family. We stay at resort that they pay for us. But saves us a lot because we always pack are meals, snack and drinks so we don't have eat out. Plus before we go i always do a search on what to do down that is at low cost or free that's for families. Last year found a park that was really amazing an lots for our son to do spent a lot time taking him there.

    We're planning a vacation for early September. We spend very little on vacation because we love to camp :) (I know it's not for everyone). We like to camp in a tent, we bring bikes, games, and lots of outdoor fun things. I plan all the meals out and we only eat out at a restaurant once. Also, we look for things to do that are free, but fun, around our campsite. Then, if there are things that cost, I try to hunt down a coupon for it ahead of time.

    My every year summer vacation is up to Lake Michigan. My friend lives super close to the beach so i drive up there, stay with her and we plan our meals out for the entire trip so we can start finding coupons. the beach is free and it is gorgeous!!

    If many area people are going to St. Louis this summer, the zoo has free admission. You could spend an entire day there and it's a very nice zoo. Also, right across the street is a nice park to visit. Drury Hotels are also known for having coupon books full of savings for attractions in the area. Many are wonderful places to take children =)

    Here a great tip for summer, after you reserve your hotel room, make sure to check back at that hotel several times within the months coming up to your stay. We just check Hampton Inn and they lowered their price for the time we were going to be staying and we got the lower price.

    I am so excited about my vacation this summer. I am going with my hubby and my oldest daughter to Tennessee to see my dad and mom. We are meeting in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. I am already working on coupons to the attractions and restaurants. I want to get my binder started. I have all of my coupons in an envelope right now.     With sky high gas prices, I suggest opting for a staycation and take day trips to nearby locations. To give a staycation more of a vacation feel, look for discounts to local hotels through AAA, your car insurance company, etc.

    Well this year is our FIRST family vacation to the beach! IT will be my husband myself and 3 kids driving for 24 hours.... Please wish me luck. Since I have been couponing (about 2 months now) I have not left the house with out my coupon book nor have I bought any items unless I had a coupon for it. So on my trip the book will be with me so when we pick up our groceries I will have my coupons or our food on the trip. Why did I not start doing this along time ago????

    We like to go camping for our family vacations. There are TONS of FREE activities provided by mother nature, we don't have to pay a large hotel bill, we bring all of our food from home, and best of all, the whole family's connected and enjoying togetherness without outside distractions!

    I have "liked" BNC for a long time on FB :) LOVE the page and tips Amy suggests. My vacation suggestion is this.....when my family would travel to FL we would always pack our own food, drinks and snacks for 5 people. This saves on money and time. We didn't have to make near as many stops and didn't have to go through the drive thru and spend $40-$50 on dinner and then snacks and drinks. We already had al of that right in the car :)

    I recently have stumbled upon your sites both blessing and loaded n couponing. I recently lost my job so I had to find ways to around my lack of money to live. Your sites along with Couponmom have been my god send! Thank you! =D

    Ohh and something cool to do on trips. For day trips I like to use what cereal, nuts, dried fruits, candies, go crazy. Make up your own "trail mix" not $5.00 bag you wont eat half of. Or Pack a cooler with dry ice(stays super cold WAY LONGER), great for camping. You can pack any cold item even raw meats, just keep them WRAPPED/SEALED TIGHT.
    My fiance and I have also started to check for online coupons for the traveling we do. Alot of the destination cities have hotel and resturant packages. Where you save money and your room and get coupons for either 1/2 off or bogo entries. I like to check "Groupon" for cool inexspensive ideas for fun stuff to do where ever we go. So needless to say you can find a coupon for just about anything you need if you are willing to look! =D

    I like what you have done and all the things you teach us on how to do the couponing.     When we go on vacation I like to try and find hostels/hotel rooms etc equiped with a kitchen. That way we can bring groceries and/or shop sales while we're there and not be forced to spend so much money eating out all the time.

    We go camping almost every year. Sometimes several times a year. This will be the first year we take our oldest daughter (she just turned 5). We get a group of our friends and family members to all go on the same weekend and we get a group discount on the site. I also buy all my food and drinks and take them with us so we dont have to buy anything down there.

    My way to save on vaca?? I collect all the supplies we need for at least two months before using all my coupons(diapers, shampoo, toothpaste, etc). I also save all the coupons I get for places to eat out. The week before we leave, I look at all my coupons and then plan our meals each day based on what we can save!!

    This Summer I'll be giving birth to my baby #2 (due July 16th), so my plans are to stay home and keep my sanity. It's also a relief that I don't have to go on an expensive vacation or anything. My family and friends will be coming to us instead. That way I can enjoy some down time, take advantage of their pampering, and get used to taking care of 2 children. I'm also prepared to save on diapers as much as I can :)

    For vacation this year we will probably do day trips that don't involve overnight stays. That is a big cost saver. We will also see some of the sites in DC that are free, including the zoo.

    I like Loaded Coupon Book's Facebook Page and Blessings N Couponing Facebook Page. Great way to find out all the deals that are available and where to save money. We try to stay at a hotel that offers continental breakfast or if they don't it's a trip to the local Walmart to get quick fix breakfast items instead of eating at a restaurant for breakfast.

    We are lucky enough to have family that live close to the beach. We will be going to see them in July. My neice that we are visiting has been couponing so we will have fun together buying food for the week. And I am sure she will have lots of coupons and deals for the local attractions.

    A fairly cheap vacay idea that we do is to just drive an hour or so away and explore the town. You'd be amazed at how much you can find to get into right in your own area. Most hotels have coupon books for local attractions and we always pack a cooler with lunch meat and sandwich fixings.

    For vacation we are planning on a few day trips, that are almost free. We have a few coupons for the zoo, then we can get lunch. We also spend a day at Lake Michigan and we have a picnic. Then we will spend a few days with my son at his "home away from home" for college. Of course we will be eating in every night because it will be a few of his last home cooked meals. But coupons go everywhere!

    We usually go camping for vacations. This way you get more than one trip (we just go for the weekend). We take our own food and there are no lodging fees to pay, as this is done from home. The kids love camping and never run out of things to do.

    My best money saving summer tip is a staycation! We lie close by 2 of the Great Lakes, and there's always something to do at a nearby park! We also have a firepit in our backyard, so we make s'mores (ingredients bought with coupons, of course), and camp out in a tent in the backyard.

    I enjoy your blog! Vacations don't happen very often, but we usually take a weekend to visit relatives. It's very inexpensive because they are so anxious to feed us and accomodate us at night. The children enjoy seeing all their grandparents and getting special treats. We enjoy the fellowship and break from cooking!

    An ideal on being thrifty on vacation!! My family and I traveled cross country in our Prius which saved us alot of money on gas. Before we left I picked up items at the food store and packed a snack box and a cooler with drinks. And when we needed too refill we stopped at local food store and restocked(using coupons of course).

    My thirty vacation this year invovles me running a half marathon. When I found this marathon I was able to camp for free on the beach all weekend with my husband and kids at the location of the half mary.. They even through in theme park tickets at a discount for all the rides/waterparks all weekend. How is that for thrifty. Plus I got my ride tickets for free for entering the race. So for a family of five if you like to run and have fun. This vacation cost around $250 for 3 days for a family of 5.

    We were hoping to go on a vacation just this April for my daughter's 3rd birthday. However, our schedules got jampacked with weddings, "birth"days and visits from family. We're hoping we could still go around December and maybe spend New Years with family in California. And we would like to drive to experience the scenery and have more quality family bonding time!

    my ideal to being thrifty on vacation is to always check the chamber of commerce website for the city I will be going to. Look for free things to do in that city and sometimes you can get a city pass combining all great attractions into a discounted ticket price. :)

    I am 100% addicted! I am 28 and have been put out of work due to some serious health problems so when I came by couponing it was a life saver.     Cheap drinks-on-the-go work for me!
    Buying coffee or hot tea at rest stops is expensive! A plain cup of coffee can cost up to $2. We usually start off with a fresh-brewed cup of coffee in a travel mug for each adult when we leave home. In the winter, especially, I also pack a Thermos of hot water and herbal tea bags for cups of hot tea along the way. Teabags cost less than 10 cents each. You can’t buy a cup of tea for less than $1.50 . . . at least on the routes I travel.
    I also buy the Crystal Light powder pouches when they’re on sale and keep them in the glove box (and a few in my purse). I can buy a case of bottled water on sale for $2.99. When we’ll be out for the day, I’ll grab a few bottles of water and can easily and inexpensively add flavoring with the powder pouches for those who like something other than plain water. It’s still substantially cheaper than buying a beverage from the store or drive through.

    When we go on vacation we ALWAYS rent a condo or a house, that way we have a fridge and stove and dont have to spend the extra money eating out. Also most amusement parks offer if you come in after a certain time(Say 3pm) you get a pass for the next day as well. This is always a plus. And if you stay somewhere with a pool or some places even have water parks and that makes for a great day or 2 doing exactly what vacation is all about, RELAXING. We also try to eat a late lunch if we are going to eat out because lunch is cheaper, then if you are in a condo or house go back late in the evning and have a sandwich.     My summer thrifty vacation:

    actually I have 2: first is the family camp - I've been stockpiling summer items to take there and enjoy (pastas, dressings, marinades, hersheys bars and more) - this way I don't have to do a large shopping trip just before we go, I can shop from my stash.

    the second is to go camping on state of Maine reserve land, it is free of charge (many of them) and in beautiful back country! My kids will love exploring and we won't be spending a ton on the "room" fee.
